Power Commanders out for 07' softails
ORIGINAL: scottmartello
Great stuff in this thread. I'm lurking and gathering info. I want to put Hooker Darksides on my '07 Night Train and am waiting for this to play out.
Anyway, hate to slow the disucssion with a simple question, but what does SERT stand for?

Congradulations skips69 !!
I can't wait for you to get them on and see the difference in Power and looks, I still haven't decided yet on which way to go, I guess I can wait till I hit 1000 miles and then decide, please let us know as soon as you get them on !!
depends on what type of pre 07 slip ons you use.I installed S&S slip ons used on dynas #55-6005 and the only difference is i could only use one bolt on the crossover support bracket, so i used 5/16 bolts with lock nuts and they wont be coming off any time soon(very solid).Or until my V&H 2-1 big radius are ready in march.SERT and SE a/c plus those mufflers are working out as nice combo on my 07 softail custom.
FYI.
An '06 Dyna PC III (same as '07 software) will work on '07's, just needs to be fine tuned which should be done any way as each motor runs different, even in the same family. They come with the O2 Eliminators. I just had an 06 Dyna PC III, Stage 1 AC, and 2.25" baffle Rush slip ons installed. Runs great, but may need some fine tuning as I put more miles on it.
Dyno'd at 69.75 HP and 75.70 Lbs Torque. A/F ranged from 12.5 at idle, 13.8 at 3500, right at 13 from 3800 - 4500, and a sharp drop to 12 at 5100 which quicky rose to 13.7 at 5300.
Perhaps not the best map yet, but I have no popping, pinging, or hesitation. My leg does not burn any more either.
Any comments on Dyno results and possible changes obviously welcome.

I've shared e-mail w/ power commander the last couple days. They are saying that this (new for 07' models) is the only power commander unit that will be available for the 07's, and it also sounds like 02 sensor eliminator maps are all that will be available for future power commander applications (for the 07' models). If you want to run a PC III, you'll have to use the 02 sensor eliminators basically. You'll have to run either slip-ons, or exhausts for 06' and earlier models - no 02 bungs. They also stated that 02 sensor eliminators are not available for individual sales themselves, but are included w/ new purchase of power commander's for 07' HD's.
I have been finding lot's of posts about 07' bagger models being fitted with PC III's and 02 eliminators, and seeing lot's of good dyno info. If you have a new Softail, you might want to do some searching and get caught up to speed in some other forums/posts. I'd also recommend that if anyone is considering this approach, to check out www.fuelmoto.com. There is some good information posted there, plus access to their tech's.
Direct Parts and also Eastern Performance have the new 07' softail PC III's available now for less that $300. Don't know if this includes USB port, 9V power adapter or 02 sensor eliminators - might check. Just throwing that out there...........
As for me, I had ordered some Vance & Hines Big Radius w/ the 02 sensor bungs already (for the 07' softails). They were supposed to ship mid to late November. I have been toying w/ the idea of cancelling that order and going with some 06' and earlier Big Radius to get pipes here sooner, and going the power commander route if more information became available soon. Lo and behold, got an e-mail this morning stating the new exhaust has shipped and will be here Friday. Guess I am into them now - no point in sending them back and paying a re-stock fee. Called my dealer this morning and asked if my 60 day 25% discount applied to a SERT, and he said "yes". So, with that discount, sounds like it is roughly the same price for me to go that route, as the PC III would be w/ no discount. I have never used a SERT, but under the circumstances sounds like my best plan now. Might have everything on and Dyno'd as early as next week.............

I have talk to some people at dyno shops bike shops and pipe makers. I am getting a pair of street walker drag pipes and welding on o2 sencers. I will then be getting a sert from H-D and taking the bike to a dyno shop. This is the best way due to the fact they can still use o2 when tuning the bike. I also heard that there will be better o2 sencers in the future. If anyone sees anything wrong with this let me know. They dyno shop said that after a few runs they will be able to tell me how much more back pressure I need to gett the bike running best. I will then take bike and install some lolli pops. in the end.
thanks
thanks
Not sure which year, but the dyna mufflers fit. I have S&S slash cut Dyna slip ons on my '07 Heritage. Only one of the bolt holes(rear) line up. you just need a couple of 5/16(I think) coach bolts, and nuts, and a drill or file to open up the mounting slots on the bike. Coach bolts have a domed head and are square under the head. This allows them to lock into the slot on the dyna muffler. You might also want to jam open the valve in the rear engine pipe so that you have both pipes working all of the time.

Carriage bolts are the dome headed, square shanked ones that you described.
I just purchased Samson Street Sweepers for my 07 night train and they have the 02 port. I also have the Big Sucker, and ordered the PCIII from Fuelmotousa yesterday. I was told I can just plug the 02 sensor. Do I just use a bolt to block the 02 sensor?
I graduated up the mods on my 07train.
1) First went with the PCIIIand o2 elims. (plugged the holes with a drain plug too!) Noticed a significant improvement in HP and torque just by using the "stock w/O2 elims" PC map. the bike ran great, sounded better and ran cooler. all with stock a/c and pipes.
2) next added the Billet Sucker. Moderate improvement, mostly on the "badass scale" HAHA!! No real performance improvement, but it sounds sweet and looks bad. I suppose at reallyhigh RPMs or wide open throttle, the benefits of the higher CFM can be felt. This bike is plenty fastwith the 96B as it is...
3)Added Sampson BG3 Street Sweepers, and changed PC Maps. BIG change!! Faster! Louder! Cooler (temp)! Cooler (looks)! The throttle response is fantastic and the motor spools up like a scalded cat. wheeeeeeeeeee
The moral,I guess, isthatin order to get the most performance from your motor without adding new cams, cans, piston and bore changes, etc., you gotta let it breathe at both ends. Addinga PCIII or SERT is also a very worthwhile bolt-on investment also. Stock motors are de-tuned to make emissions. These add-on fuel mgmt devices let us motorheads truly enjoy these bikes the way they were intended...
Happy holidays gents!!
