This won't help with the shocks but might allow you to get some needed sleep and have a clearer head. Try putting a wind-up alarm clock in the dog crate under a blanket. The sound of the ticking clock is suppose to calm the pup making it think the sound is its mother's heartbeat. I used this trick once and it seemed to work. Something else that might help if you are not already doing it, is keep the crate in your bedroom so the pup doesn't feel so alone.

When I installed my Shotgun, I had my J&S all the way to the rear to clear the shocks.

Ok... dude... first of all, I love drinking, but doing that and trying to do what you're doing by yourself is NOT a good idea. Just leave the tequila for a bit, throw a good pair of earplugs in and relax.

I just pulled my shocks 2 days ago. The difference was that my bike was on a true motorcycle lift and I had another person to help. We ran into a HUGE problem on the right side of the bike- the damned oil plug grommet is part of the frame and right next to the front shock bolt. We finally got everything off then back on but WOW, what a pain.

Anyway, you should try moving the jack back a bit. It DOES look a little far forward. Most importantly, get a good SOBER buddy over to lend a hand.

Good luck.

morning now... puppy slept through the night for the first time!

I am going to the mountain today and will attack this again this evening. Thanks for all the input and suggestions. JY-- I was definitely done for the night when I pulled out the tequila. Thanks for being concerned for my (and the bike's) well-being, bro.

When I get home tonight, I'll put the bolts back in, reposition the lift further back and see if the shocks will drop out between the lift arms. Not a lot of space between the arms but might work. I'll also pick up a couple of jack stands on the way home.

You guys are great

Dude, do not give up on that crate, the dog will grow to love it. Been putting my dog in a crate since she was a pup, three years and she looks forward to going in every night about 10pm, sleeps through the night. I give her a treat everytime she goes in, this will help a dog like it more.
I also knew I was getting the dog ahead of time so I gave the previous owner a towel to keep with the mother and the siblings, when I brought my dog home, I put the towel in her crate with her. I put a couple toys in with her also (she loves small stuffed animals). Let the pup out to go to the bathroom before you put it in.
Most times a dog will not go to the bathroom where it sleeps unless it is there too long or gets sick. My dog has only gone twice in her crate and she was sick. Puppies do not have great control when they are young and need to go out more.
It will get better!
