Here's a problem...
Cute pup you got there. Santa brought me one for Christmas too and he's been a pure joy except for the fact that he tries to eat his poop from time to time! Not sure how to train him from NOT doing that! lol.
Get some ratcheting straps at homey d, put some lag style eye bolts incieling or wall, loop around triple tree and tighten snug enough that bike woun't move. One on each side of triple tree worked for me to hold bike upright and not move forward or back. Wow should have finish reading. glad you got it done.

well, success. Thanks everyone for the kind words and the advice on the bike and the puppy.
I went ahead and got jack stands at Harbor Freight, but as I suspected, they wouldn't fit under the bike on the lift. So I just rolled the bike and lift over to the wheel chock, carefully lowered it into the chock and on to a couple of 2 X 4s under the rear wheel. Shocks just fell out, lift pulled out, problem solved. As usual I made it harder than it needs to be.
Puppy (Sophie, an AKC Malamute) has been getting better as of late with the crate training. Still having accidents but coming along. She is a beautiful dog and is already helping in the shop.
thanks again for all your help,
Jim

Obviously you missed the part about this being a shotgun shock install. They are mounted together. There is no one at a time.
Calmer heads will prevail. Take it slow and you'll get it.
BTW, thanks for the laughs. I have been in these situations more than I ever want to admit and like to see that it is more normal than not.
