Brenn,
Congrats on your fantastic find. As far as mounting bolts, if you want to invest a little more, I would recommend EZ Brackets (http://www.classiccruiser.com/webapp.asp) They come with backing plates and mounting bolts, they are detachable for cleaning the wheels or carrying them off the bike and they are lockable. I used them before on a previous bike and they worked great. Problem is... they're another $142 unless you can find them on eBay too. Either way, you're getting some good tips here as well.

Today I ordered replacement black metal side release buckles to replace the plastic ones that are broken and black chicago screws to replace the rivets, just in case I want to do any future modifications. I'll go ahead and mount them with the messed up decorative buckles from where the last guy's bike went down, then order new oens from HD when I get around to it.

I may have nearly $100 in them when they are fully restored and on the bike.
Any pics?

Just the auction ones in the first post. I haven't done any work on them yet. The left looks like a normal, slightly used bag, but one I restore it I'll take a pic of the one that went down (right side).

I'm surprised the original side-release plastic buckles on these things are so cheap. You can replace them with metal ones for very little.

Yup, saw those myself and almost put a bid in. Glad I didn't. Wouldn't want to get in a bidding war with a fellow forum brother.

You might want to look at the nylon/plastic washer. Should have them at the tractor supply. JC

Now one question - what do I need to bolt those one? Longer bolts for my fender struts, obviously, but I'm thinking there should be layers of steel and rubber/plastic washers at the back of the bag and between the bracket and my Fender strut. Any ideas?[/QUOTE]
