If you are going to bother to do a big bore, you might as well do cams at the same time. That way you get the most bang for your buck. Get a friend, a service manual and build it yourself. It's more fun and you learn something too, not to mention save all that money on labor.

I'm about 600 miles into my break in of a 96 to 103 plus SE255 cam build on my '09 Heritage (26,000 miles). So far I couldn't be happier!

My experience on the 96" motors. I had a Street Glide that we did a build on - 103", head work, TW6-6 cams, shaved the heads (10.2/1 compression), air cleaner, exhaust, etc., and it came off the dyno at 105/118. Cost about $5k.

For about half of that, we put Andrews 26 cams, a Big Sucker and Rinehart duals on my wife's Street Glide - came off the dyno at 88/98.

If we were at a dead stop and hammered them, I could walk away from her, but in real riding if I jumped on the throttle, she would be right there with me. You really had to pound it to see the difference. Basically, it changed my mind completely about chasing hp with big displacement. For my FLTRU (103"), we are just doing TW-555 cams and changing out the exhaust.

And, as somebody else said, anybody on a 600 class sport bike will blow you away any way.

Big Bore alone vs cams alone, cams give you a better Hp/Tq increase. But if you can do both together you benefit more if you select the correct cams.

If you are going to use HD parts go with the Se 204 cams and up grade to the SE Hyd Tensioners and oil pump.

Don't forget that you'll also want to have some head work done to increase the size of the intake and exhaust valves for improved airflow/combustion in the chambers. That along with cams and bored to 95" will give you all the torque and power you will need.
