Im runnin Samson 33" Longtails on my Sled and have had a helluva time getting the crossover pipe to seal. Between finding a good position for the clamp where it doesnt hit the shift rod and where I can still get good torque on it to just getting it on far enough to seal and stay, its been a bitch. I was running the chrome pivot bolt covers, but it was rubbing the left side, so I took it off. Well I was putting some parts on the other day and thought damn it looks out of place having all this chrome and not running that cover so I took it apart and put the cover back on and used some hi temp RTV to seal up the pipes this time. Seems like its working, but the pipe is super close and I actually think the clamp holding the heat shield on is touching it. Im not worried about scratching it because you cant see the front of it, only the sides which is why im using the same one. Quesiton is I guess is if you are running the duals, are you using the pivot bolt cover for the left side? If not, wonder who makes a chrome bolt I could replace the stock with cuz that stock **** stank lol.
you may have to loosen your rear exhaust pipe completely and retighten once you have the rear pipe in the right place. the pipe will move back and forth depending on which flange nut is tightened the most. my suggestion is to loosen the rear pipe and tighten the outside flange nut slightly more than the inside nut. this should give you the clearance you are looking for.
thank you,
JR / SAMSON
Yea I think I have it on about as good as it will get. I did tighten the outside a lil more than inside which probably gave me that extra clearnance. Im actually tossing around the idea now of some half wrapped Sidewinders.

Gotta agree with you on those pipes they a f*kn bad!!!! Only one major downfall in them ... NO PASSENGERS.... but if you ride solo ... i say go for it!!! They are SICK styled....
I've been eyeball-en the Thunderheader exhaust .... maybe a black pipes/headers with chrome heat shields.... I don't care for the all chrome set-up but really like the blacks... So i wonder what they would look like mixed up.... "hog4mango" bike looks sweet with the all black Thunderheaders.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/membe...-pc310123.html

I totally understand man.I agree with you and BnC 09 they are great looking pipes.I think they would look good on a Deluxe. We all go through the same thing with changing our scoots.I was contemplating a pipe change myself.I have a terrible time getting in and out of my driveway with my cholos.Last week I ordered a shotgun shock.Hopefully that will help because you can raise the bike a inch higher than stock.Right now I ride slammed on 422's.If not I was looking at the Yaffe/Santee skirt blowers(kind of have the same style as the side winders) or the Supertrap/Yaffe x pipes.

You can raise a deluxe 2" higher than stock as it will go 1" over stock height of a regular softail and the Deluxe is lowered 1". I think that will be your answer.
