Default Restoring 96' softail

Will the foward controls off a 91 softail fit my 96?
What years had the same parts?
I know everything from 1999 and on is to new. What is the oldest parts that will fit my bike. The model is FXSTC softail custom.

I like this, I have a 1996 FXSTSB, I wanted it blacked out so I switched to a 1999 Night Train Primary cover (stealership said it wouldnt work) However the gasket is identical for both sets and since I got the cover on e-bay for 35.00 I figured it was worth a try, It works fine, been on 2 years. Latest thing I tried was a black tranny top cover, it is 1/8th inch higher at the bolts so longer bolts were needed but again, all else was fine. I love making stuff work and seeing what I come up with, oh cam cover is from a night train as well... What I'm finding is any evo softail stuff switches, with exceptions, just check it all out, buy used where ya can if you arent sure that way you aren't out much if it doesn't work if you need to sell it! Mostly, have a fun time with it, be carefull and do what makes you happy and proud of your ride!
