Help with tank/bars/speedo mod?
Hello all,
Now that I have settled on the Fat Boy Lo, there are a few things I'd like to change. I'd like to know what you think, but also I need some suggestions on how to accomplish it.
First, I don't care for the huge console on the tank or the large starter switch. Not easy to find a stock replacement, but I like the tank from the Blackline. It doesn't have a center console, just a nice raised area. If I bought this, I will need to come up with a new speedometer/odometer and fuel gauge, and I will need to relocate the starter switch.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
What options are there for starter switch relocation?
The fuel gauge is on the tank, but if I get the Blackline tank, that won't be an option. Can this be part of the speedo?
Part of this mod is that I would like a different set of bars. I really like the black street slammer bar and it fits me well on the bike.
However, I am not sure how I could manage a separate speedo on this setup. Years past I recall seeing a round speedometer mounted on the center of the handlebars, and I'd like to see if I can do something like this with the Street Slammer bars without messing up the low profile look. Perhaps something that can mount just in front of the cross bar?
