So this thread has got me thinking. I'm new to HD and have had my Train for about 10 months.

Some questions.

Does anyone else feel almost to big for the NT? I'm 6' 2" and love to ride her but she feels almost too small. I'm going to add a bare bones seat and get some forward control extensions and see if that helps.

Also, I replaced my front pegs not to long ago with some longer ones. I have scraped them a few times. Should your pegs be able to bend up if you scrape them? The reason I ask is because I have heard of people going down because the peg digs into the ground. So would it be better if they did bend up if you hit the corner to hard?

Thanks, Old jap bike rider.

Pegs should fold up and back.air ride makes it a Cadillac as any softail.Mines scraped from the j-stand to the lower frame rails.Put the right parts in and it will ride good. One of my favorite pics, lowered 4"' front and rear and I can still get over pretty good. Not a sport bike but not a slouch by any means.G.

Good luck. I LOVE my Train.
Compared to a wide front tire it is "nimble." For a cruiser it does great in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm 6'1.5" and had the same feeling. I added 2" forward control extensions, 1" riser extensions, and a solo seat that moved me back a bit. It's perfect now for long distance or short twisties. I would rethink your idea about the barebones though. Tall guys need seats that move them back, not down. Look at the bike in profile and you can see that lowering your butt position actually moves you closer to the pegs.

Thanks Lucky,

I thought the bare bones made you sit lower and moved you back some?

What would be another solo seat that only moves you back?

Night Trains and FXSTs are the best looking Harleys, period. You can make them your own, from outragous to sleek and all points in between.

Agreed. I like Harley's but I LOVE Trains. The only other model I'd even consider owning would be a Street Glide.
I bought a Train because it looks like the motorcycle I always had in my head: low, long and raked, but not a chopper.

At 6', I did run into comfort issues. The drag bars were KILLING me. So, this off season, I put 4" pullback bars and the Heartland set-up on the bike. Aside from the hard lowered ride, the thing feels like a Road King now.

I kind of like the gangster apes.

But I also like the drag bars. I'm not sure the drag bars are the reason the bike feels small. However, my hand goes numb sometimes.
