Default Night Train question

Just traded my road king for a train. Barely road her yet but loving it all the same. Question 1, What year "mini apes" from a dyna will fit? Also will they fit on the stock 6 inch risers? I know i'll have to get new cables and such though. Next is there any advice about owning a train as far as little quorks or tips that you guys have to offer? Thx again, ive been searching this topic over for hours and I'm finding tid bits of info thats really helpful just wondering if theres anymore out there.

I would suggest replacing the risers with a shorter version if you are going to Mini Apes, just looks better than the bars mounted that far from the triples. The ride will feel different than the RK as it will more nimble since the front tire is thinner. It is a great bike. Enjoy it!

I think Harley apes are standard no matter what bike they're for,and they should fit the n/ train risers, i went with the chubby mini ape kit that Harleys do which i think look better and have internal wiring.

Good choise of bike. Mine's an 06 no problems so far,if yours is an 06 or earlier you will need to check the cam chain tensioners some time around 20,000 thousand miles or so,as they can apparently crack or start to fall apart.

Hey brother, I put stock Street Bob bars and cables on my train awhile back. Traded for some pegs.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ted-today.html

Cost me $40 in powdercoat and I used some 1 1/2" risers I had laying around. ($40? Dennis Kirk?)

Unless it's a turn radius issue (like they're really wide from a springer or something), any 1" bars will work as takeoffs. Any of the Street Bobs or I think Softail Customs should swap right on if you can get the stock cables with them.

Good luck!

One thing about Trains is that they're anything but "nimble". If you're looking for a corner-carver or something easy to turn in a tight radius, well- the Train ain't it.
However, if you're looking for a low, mean growler, she's it!

Good luck. I LOVE my Train.

My neighbor has a NT and he had it lowered. I have ridden it a few times and would advise against that. He has drag bars too--which you are going a different direction. It is like driving a 3/4 ton truck with the pwr steering inop. That said, I think it is the best looking Harley on the block and there are more than a few including my Heritage.

Yeah, I just lowered mine with the bolts and the ride is well... nonexistant. I'm alright with it for now, but talk to me again a few months into the riding season.

I've rode my NT pretty aggressive thru the mountains and was surprised on how well it handled the mountains.
