a shiny metal tab has to stick out from underneath the seat to reach that hole and hold the seat down. I can see what he's saying. The hardware they provide is something that can be purchased at just about any hardware store and isn't very well thought out. They also don't provide the bolt sleeve fit that hole. The stock one for the passenger seat can be used, tho.
In my case, i'm going with a custom fender that won't come pre-drilled with a hole to mount the seat, so i'm trying to think of a way to mount the seat so that the hardware won't be seen. Any ideas?
Any suggestions might help the op with his issue, as well.
i wanted a bare bones seat for my 72flh..it is little more then a 1"x12"x12"vinyl pillow on a steel base, the mounting hardware is just a flat piece of metal bent at the ends..and looks like crap on the bike..and they want $280 for it..i am going to make the same thing for $30 in leather
for two up, most seats come without the tap, not just lepera, also Mustang, the tap you can get at your dealer, and I have the black one with the easy screw.. they are spring loaded.
If you guys read what I wrote it says in a nutshell that the hardware could be thought out better. On the Lo you see the bracket so they could make it look good instead of like a homemade job. I didn't complain about the wait just the cheap hardware. They don't even give you a hold down screw for the seat.
All I did was move the threaded nut thats in the fender foward and the black plug back. I didnt have aney problems. I think the bracket looks good on my black fatboy but the crome would look like chit on a flat black.....I love my seat, Why are you so mad...She told you 3 weeks just like she did me and mine also came in 18 days
I'm mad at the hardware, not the wait. Geez, read the thread again.
My FB Lo has two nuts to attach the rear of the front seat, how does Lapera deal with that?
Their seat attaches to the single hole in the fender covered by the plastic plug. They make you buy the screw bung. I got mine on E-Bay. I flat blacked the ugly bracket and bought a black seat screw from Mustang. They should get their act together.
