I installed the Harley side mount oil cooler on my 2011 Heritage with ABS. It's a little tight, but it works.

I had a Pickup with ABS brakes. The sensors that sense the rotors were turning corroded and did not sense that the rotors were turning at low speeds.

The result was under 10 mph the sensors thought the wheels were locked up and did not apply the brakes.

Can you imagine trying to stop for a stop sign or pulling into a parking space and your brakes do not work?

I do not know how they work on motorcycles but after that I want to hit the brakes and lock them up. Don't want any computers or sensors controlling my brakes because they think they can do better.

Just my 2 cts.

I don't think ABS are something necessary on a motorcycle and will not get a bike with them as I am already used to riding with the brakes as they are. I guess they could cause a lot of problems as well.

Default Choose ABS to save lives....

In Europe ABS is strongly recommended.

The German automobile club (ADAC) found in his own studies that ABS could save 160 lives a year and prevent up to 6.900 motorcycle accidents with injuries in 2009 in Germany only.

I like ABS in general, having used it on BMW bikes. But I don't like where they stuck it on the Softails.

There are not many options of where to put it on softails. There is nowhere to hide it really unfortunately.

The ABS is not activated below 3MPH on the front wheel and 5MPH below the rear wheel. So you can still lock them up.

The first ABS units on BMW were clunky looking but they starting making them much smaller and integrated into the bike so they don't stick out. Harley will find a better way someday.

What's the news? Is the ABS in the way?

(There's a big space between my tire and fender I'd like to fill ...)

What brand of chin spoiler did you use? I've got a softail deluxe with ABS and the same engine guard, and I've been looking for a chin spoiler that's compatible with the ABS.
