Default Problems?

I'm seriously considering adding an '07 Heritage to complement my FLTRI. Most of my time on the forum is in the Touring section, and there are some problematic issues that have been discussed there, namely excessive heat, 5th gear whine, and transmission noise possibly due to a mis-torqued compensator sprocket.

Any '07 Softail owners have problems in these areas? Sound off if you do........would like a heads-up before I sign up.......and thanks.

My 07 Heritage has a slight whine in 5th, no big deal. Some primary chain noise, again not a problem. I did notice some engine heat when stopped in traffic on hot days, but once I got rolling again life was good. Love my ride, I say go for it.

I have had the 07 Heritage for two months now. Only have 1200 miles on it. To much work not enough free time. I have had no problems at all. The 5th gear did make a whine in the beginning, but only slightly and it dissapeared after about 400 miles. All of the 07's have a tendancy to run hot. I put on Rush slip-ons, high flow air filter and bought the SERT. I used the canned MAP for the 07 and it dropped the operating temp by 25 to 30 degrees. No other problems. Have read of these things, but it seems the owners of the touring models have the most complaints. Had a 03 Roadking that I traded in and Road Kings before that. The power after the mods is superior to the 03 which was basically set up the same and the 6th speed is great. Don't use it until around 65 mph. No problems and love the bike. Fits me better thasn the Road King.

No problems. Run Hot in the beginning but not an issue now. Not sure if break in or adding sert, slip fits, se/air box and syn 3 played a part. 2400 miles and couldn't be happier.
