For those who have had different threads on '07 ping, tranny noise, excessive heat, lean condition the answer to what is MOCO going to do for those of us who did SERT to fix lean condition, at the advice of the Dealer, read on. I wrote my letters to CEO and Board of Directors Stating my case that at the advice of my dealer, with 175 miles on 07 ULTRA, to install SERT to cure lean state. And I requested refund. Answer took 2 months. Flat out NO ! With many others turning this over to their respective Attorneys General, down the road I expect Harley will be forced into compensating those who had to spend their own money to fix before the " Torque Smoothing" flash that now won't do us any good. As far as the 5th gear whine it's funny that Baker has come out with a kit to fix a problem that Harley says doesn't exist. Ya, 5th is straight cut--Bakers is helical. Why did Harley ever do this ? Did it not show up in R&D ? Now that a big percentage of the '07's have noise-Harley says it's normal. It's normal for the 5.88 rear in my drag car to whine--not my Cadilac.

This thing about heli cut gear and strait cut gears... Harley sells a SE 6 Speed Upgrade Trans...
And there ALL STRAIT CUT GEARS... Has anyone bought one? Any Noise?

If not, how is it the Cruse Drive trans does, and if the SE trans does, why would Harley sell a trans like that...??

The biggest issue with the '07's are the owner's spend more time complaining about them then time actually riding them. I know several people with stock '07's that love them. I could only wonder how many people complained about noisy transmissions on a Shovelhead. Ride it! If it's too lean, burn a hole in the piston and take it back. Warranty will cover it. The only "whine" I hear is on this forum.

I've said this many times before, but I'll say it again!

My 2007 Ultra Classic rattles,clanks,whines,detonates,pings
and vibrates... This is a Harley, my first Harley in 40+ years
of riding motorcycles, my wife got it for my birthday. I love
my Ultra with all it's faults, thats what gives it character!

I look at it like this, if you don't like your 2007 Harley that
rattles,clanks,whines,detonates,pings and vibrates you should
have bought a Goldwing to which I have one as well as a
Concours that vibrates and buzz's so when I don't like all
the character my my Ultra and Concours have on a given day
I just take the smooth, quiet, powerful two wheeled car (IE) my
Goldwing with no character and glide down the road for the
day!

So either suck it up and enjoy the character your Harley has
or go and buy a Goldwing!!

Pretty simple if you ask me, because if you buy a Harley you
know full well up front you bought a 100 year old design of
a motorcycle which is far from perfect, very far from perfect..
