I just put a side kick seat on my 09 softail custom but for some reason it fits so tight up by the tank It seems I really have to force it on just doesn't seem right .

Can you adjust the mounting tab on the back where it attaches under it?

I don't know but it's almost like I have to press down on the front of the seat and slide it forward to try and lock the front tab in and after several trys I can get it but shouldn't be this hard I wonder if the leather strap that goes down the middle of the tank is making the seat to tight in the front

Maby you can bend the tab in thefront and if that doesn't work I will take it off your hands for fifty bucks shipping included and yes that a good deal.

I had a custom Sidekick on my 09 Softail Custom and I remember it fitting pretty snug there too. I had to give it some downward pressure to fit into place but once there seemed to fit right. I had a chrome tank panel too, didn't crush or scratch it. I was actually happy to have it fit without any slop. I recently put one of the new Sundowner seats on my Heritage and the tongue kept slipping out of the mounting slot. That one's going back as a warrantee issue. I generally prefer my seat to stay on the bike while riding. (o:

This was it on the original tank panel.
