I was wondering if anyone has mounted FL hard bags on a Heritage Classic, and if so how hard was the process. I know brakets can be purchased from JP cycles but have not actually seen it done as of yet. I really like the look of the hard bags and am entertaining the thought of the FL bags. The only other thing is, I guess I would have to relocate the turn signals. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Yes, J.T., I have installed the Heritage Softail Classic Hard Saddlebags, PN/ 90224-05BPS(BLACK CHERRY) ON MY '05 FLSTC. These can be found on page 282 of the HD parts catalog, at least in the 2005 and 2007 issues that I have. Complete instructions are included, and it is a fairly straight forward process. Narrow direction bars, P/N 68611-98 are needed for lock access. We are getting real good at changing from the leather bags to the hard ones and back, since I go back and forth every once in a while. (I may be selling these hard bags soon, since I have been looking at a new 2007 FXSTC).
Thanks for the input. I spoke with a buddy today and he said the JPcycles bracket is pretty straight forward and is quick detatch. I just have to look for a good deal on a set of newer FL bags because a new set is very expensive. Maybe I'll try Ebay.
Thanks for the pics. The thing I like about it, is that it doesn't look thrown together and is almost a factory look. I've seen too many that just doesn't look right. I think I may have my winter project now.
Well, I am going MC shopping this weekend, so I would sell the hard bags for half what I paid for them, which was $996. That would be $500 for the set of FLSTC locking Hard Saddlebags, P/N 90224-05BPS, mounting hardware and instructions included. These bags are absolutly perfect, have only been on the bike occasionly, bought last September. Seems like I put them on, then I decide later to go back to the leather bags, and then back once more to the hard bags! Of course, black cherry would have to work for you, unless you can paint them your desired color. If interested, call me at 520-825-7869(Tucson,AZ) or email me at roadking@wbhsi.net
