Default Simple(?) Engine question

How much lift is required to remove the rocker box covers on a FatBoy Lo? What I mean is, obviously the tank would have to come off.. but can the rocker box covers be removed without having to remove the engine from the frame? I see there's like 1/2" - 3/4" clearance but I don't know whether that would be enough. Thoughts?
