I have to post as myself on this subject as informed by the mods so today is the day to order my new ride wrights and i have no idea what to get still. What is really making this decision difficult is that I jsut dropped my bags off for custom paint last night and it is difficult to know exactly what they are going to look like when they are done.
They are going to be vivid black with some black and white nice air brushing and then hit with pearl opalesence which has a bit of a blue sparkly glow to it. the paln is to get all teh tins over the next few months. Now I was planning on getting black rims with candy red spokes and chrome nipples and a chrome hub, but with the new paint job that really changes things. It looks like I might have to hold off until I get the bags back to see what they are going to look like first so I can match them.
Another thing I was thinking about is black rims with diamond spokes. I think that would look really nice. I geuss I will aveh to see what all tehy have down there. Maybe they have pearl opalescence and I can match the rims and the new paint job, but the paint job cannot be done all it once with my budget. It is just not possible.
I kind of just fell into this paint job and the guy talked me into doing it all when AI met him. He is the guy who painted all the bikes for SOA whjich I think is kind of funny. Of all the paint he has he seems the least proud of the SOA paint jobs.
Any more opinions on the wheels and paint? I basically told him to do the bags however hew ants and whatever is looking to killer total artistic freedom after seeing his work.
If you are looking for a pearl color.Check out the shattered glass over pearlized white II. They sent me a sample spoke . It sounds as if that is what you are looking for. Good Luck
Drew would it be possible and cheaper to have them powder coat your existing wheels? Might save you some cash... I think the color combo listed would look sick. I would wait on the paint though as you listed a blue glow in the bags which wouldn't tie in real well with red spokes.
My vote is for black rim with Diamond cut chrome spokes. Thats what Im gonna do on my scoot. But I would wait and see what the paint looks like on the Bags
The wheel order has been put off until I get my handbags back from paint as I ma getting some custom work done on them and i want to be able to match the wheels to the new paint. Ithink iam going to get the new Twista wheels which are not quite ready for sale yet, but should be in about 4 weeks. The spokes are all individually machined so it takes a bit longer than the others. But everything stays as it is for now. That sig pic of my bike seems like it was years ago but I think it was about this time last year..
Can you ask them a question for me? One of the techs here and I were talking about wheel options. I mentioned something about powdercoating the nipples and he said he is afraid that the little bit of added thickness would cause the spoke wrench to screw up the finish if/when the spokes have to be tightened....can you see if this is an issue???
Brett, I am not sure how Ride Wright does it, but they powder coat nipples all the time. I was at their shop today watching the wheel assembly process, but they we working on a chrome fat daddy while i was watching. I'll see what I can find out for you.

Anyway to continue on about the new wheels, Ride Wrights facility is top notch all the way and I was walked through the entire process of how they make the rims. I watched everything being machine, assembled, etc. I took a bunch of pics but have to get them loaded on my computer.
Sam (owner of Ride Wright) is all about doing things wright the first time, as anyone who has dealt with him knows. However occasionally there may be an issue and he takes care of business as was evidenced last week with a fellow forum member.
He explained the differences to me between his and other companies wheels and why one is inferior. I will not go into detail as I wish not to bash anyone or anything, but I was thoroughly impressed.
And, the sealed spoke rims have the tires mounted on them and sit for 245 full hours before going anywhere to ensure that they are really sealed. A nice touch for a large company that is as busy as they are.
They machine their own rims, hubs, rotors sprockets, everything for the wheels on site.
So I am 3waiting on my paint to get my order in. I was even thinking the fat 80's would be nice, but they only come in an 18" and not a 21". I was informed that putting 60 fat spokes on a 21" rim was not deemed safe by by RW although many other companies do it. there is too much weight on the actual rim from all those spokes. Oh well, no fat 80's for me.
