I bought my first softail about a month ago and I'm ready to kick things up a notch with new exhaust, intake, and tuner. I decided to go with the V&H true duals/fishtails and I'm leaning toward the SERT. For the air cleaner, I'm looking at the RSD venuri speed 5 and the Kuryakyn Hi-5 Mach 2. I got a quote from HD for the whole package using the SE stage 1 backplate and filter, but I like the looks of these better, and I think the K&N filter is a better choice in the long run. Anyone have any advice or experience with these mods?
I have the same bike. I am a big fan of TTS Mastertune. Your bike has a Delphi Fuel Injectin System on it. This is the same Speed/Density system as GM has used on millions of cars since the mid to late 80's. Very simple and very dependable. Years ago I used to teach technicians how to work on this Fuel Injection system. I am NOT a fan of the microfuelers. Microfuelers are modules that wire in between the ECU and the bike. I find that it is a much more effective, far more flexible and a definitely more elegant solution to simply reprogram the ECU. At least to the extent that the TTS software allows. IMHO a Microfueler is like using a pair of Pliers when a Torque Wrench and a Six Point Socket are the proper tools.

+2 on TTS. Fishtails will look great, but will not maximize power. I got the RSD air cleaner with K&N, it's great. BTW, you can do this all yourself. The TTS will allow you to download a base map yourself and do some of your own tuning, which since you're not replacing cams will be really simple. The dealer download is a rip off/waste. See my sig line for my preferred set-up. Good luck.

I've heard stories about heat issues with the rear cylinder when running true duals. Does the TTS have maps that deals with that? I'm not sure if I'm up to the fine tuning on my own. It looks like a good system and easy to do the initial setup. I don't know jack about all the tables and cells, etc.....

Well, I already bought the pipes, so I guess I'll be running them for a while. I think I'll be happy with them, they sound and look awesome. The stock pipes are terrible. I've read the dealer download is just a feelgood thing without much real benefit, but what about the SERT? They can tune it any way you want with that, right? Or is that overkill for the mods I'm doing? That's one fine looking 'Bones you got there btw.
Ok, after advice from you guys and a lot of research, I'm goin with the TTS. I just ordered the RSD Speed 5 and I'm ready to order the Mastertune. Do I need both cable kits? Thanks for helping me with this decision and saving me some $$! I'll see how she runs after the install. I guess worst case I might still need a dyno run, but I kinda want to do that anyway. Going to start wrenching on the pipes now!
