So, to continue my red light theme (speedo lights are done... there's a thread) I bought te flush mount gauge/fuel cap today and of course blue lights aren't gonna work so I took it apart hoping the LEDs from the gauge are the same as these. They AREN'T. They're PLCC-4s, not PLCC-2s. Available here: http://www.cree.com/products/ledlamps_plcc.asp
PLCC-4 LM2
So, they're ordered... I've included some shots so far of opening it up.....
It looked almost impossible to open it without breaking it until I realized a wire with a spring lockdown was the only thing holding the outer ring on. Once I got the wire out, the outer ring slid right off, then the backing popped off & revealed the circuit board being held on by 2 torx screws. T9, which I didn't have so $9 at the autoparts store later, it's off.
Hopefully my LEDs come soon... I had to order them as samples, and since you can get only 2 at a time and you need 8, I have 4 sample orders in. Hopefully that will fly.
