Default Can't remove instrument panel!!

I have an '06 nighttrain and am trying to remove the instrument panel from the fuel tank but the acorn nut just spins. I am guessing from the pictures I have seen underneath that the bolt is "locked in" on top of the fuel pump section. I think someone has used industrial strength lock-tite and the bolt has become dislodged from where it locks in.........any suggestions?
Thanks!!

You're probably gonna have to cut that nut off.

You're not the first person on this forum to have this problem. Like the OP said you may have to cut it off.

That's what I was thinking too! I'll take a look at the parts breakdown of the bike to make sure it's what I think it is before I put a cutting wheel to it......and give some time for other suggestions....

The bolt is in a slot. When I've had this problem I've used a little force, and protected parts with towels, and pushed the dash towards the front of the bike and the bolt has come out of the slot and then you can remove the console.

No luck getting the bolt to pop out of it's slot. Used as much force as I was willing to push against it but no luck......the good news is I was installing an LED fuel gauge and realized I didn't need the tank all the way off........at least not yet anyway....

Thanks for the helps guys.......much appreciated!!
