Softail VS. Softail
Your going from one end of the spectrum to the complete other end here.
From a blacked-out down and raw Train to the chrome ***** deluxe.
I would keep the Train and buy the Deluxe. Ride one and mod the hell outta the other. And like others have said, the Trains are becoming more popular and people are willing to pay more for them since the model has been discontinued. You may be able to hold out on it and sell it outright down the road for thousands more than what you will be given on trade.
The first thing I would do is find out how much the dealerships will give you for your Train. That way, at least you have a starting point and can keep your dreams within reality.

Yes they've discontinued the train.....for now. They rotate a few of the models in and out of the line up.
If I was in your shoes I would look for a used Deluxe, even an evo deluxe. They're out there and they're dirt cheap if you look hard enough. Buy that and modify the hell out of it.

Man only 4k original miles in two years tells me you need to get ur azz out and ride more before you think about switching bikes! I put 4k on my bike last yr and I live in NY where it rains 75% of the time spring-fall and the bikes been up for 5 months while the snow is flying. As a fellow train owner you need to keep that beast cause yours is sick!! I plan on getting a deluxe once mines paid off so the wifes fat **** has a bigger pad for longer rides but my train wont go anywhere.
I would keep the train and mod it to be what you want. Or if you can manage it, fill the stable with two bikes and have the best of both worlds.
I could not choose one over the other.

For me, the Deluxe was just more MY style. It was 2 toned and a ton of chrome.....I couldn't own a blacked out bike. Part of the the joy for me is keeping it clean and shiny. The Night Train is an awesome platform to work with....its all about the look and style you're going for I guess.
Thanks for all the good input guys. Its funny because everyone is saying keep the train, but the deluxe is clearly up in the polls...I hope we don't have another "Florida '04" here haha!
Seriously though, I would love to have two bikes. I was looking at older shovels and even a few pans that needed work just to have an extra bike to toy with, realistically though...I can't afford two. I plan on buying a new truck this year, and its pretty bad when your cage (truck) was less in cost then your bike. To answer you Count, yeah I always think there could be more time to ride. I bought the bike with only 2k miles and got a great deal on it and have only put around 2500 miles on it myself. I would never trade in my bike, I always try to sell private...I think both parties make out this way. You guys make a great point though...the same bike I paid only $10500 for two years ago...I see on craigslist UNMODDED for $3-6k more.
I'm still undecided...I'm not rushing my decision, either way I will always have a Harley...I guess my purpose with this thread was to get some input from my brothers as to why they would choose one or the other and why this would or would not be a good move for me.

I voted for the Train and say keep it. You could always buy some parts and make something in between and make it yours. Have the best of both worlds but keep your spares so you could change back if you wanted to. Just my opinion.... I'm a chopper jockey.
Each bike has its advantages....I say keep the train and save up for a Deluxe. I have a feeling the Deluxe will be one of those bikes that sticks around for a while and it would be a real shame to get rid of your train.
