Default Softail VS. Softail

Well, I have been mulling this over for quite a while now, and I need some input.

Thanks to BobberEvo, Nikon, and the other Deluxe owners on the forum who have been so kind as to post pictures of their sleds (which make me drool), I am thinking about selling my Night Train to buy a Deluxe. So, let the debate begin. What do you guys on your Deluxe's like about them, boards over pegs, FL over FX forks, whitewalls, etc...I am interested in hearing, because I don't know much about them. All I know is that I love my train...but the Deluxe's keep grabbing my eye.

My Train is paid off and I owe no money on it. I would flip it and buy a Deluxe with the money from the sale, but what year would be "the ideal year". I prefer to not buy something new.

Thanks in advance, and everyone's is welcome.

Want my advice? Keep the train, and buy a deluxe. That train may be worth some money down the road since Harley has downs and stopped making it.

My opinion... Keep the train, it's a pretty sick build for the style you wanted!!

They are the same frame and engine. If you after the deluxe, I would buy a new rear fender from Klock Werks (mine comes in today) with the extended 4" and frenched in license plate. Then customize the bike to your tastes. I believe you can buy the tins from the front end to make yours look like the FL front end. You can buy a replacement front end too from the aftermarket. I would customize my bike that I know everything about to look how I want it before I would trade it in.

x black,

i feel you bro, i had a nightrod special that i modded out. great bike fast as hell wish i could of kept both. but in the end i traded in for my new deluxe. i luv the classic look of the deluxe with white walls and classic looking fenders with all the chrome. don't get me wrong if i had money i would have one of every harley style ever made. but i had to decide on one and i went with the deluxe. i dont regret one bit, i will add to my collection but never sell my deluxe.

^The exact reason why I like them...I love the retro look. I am just curious if this is a good move for me or not. I have put a good amount of money in my train, and I love it...it's just something about the look of the Deluxe's that keep grabbing my eye. I have owned my Train for about 2 years now, still only has 4000 original miles on it. To answer Cwhite, I have thought about that...to me, its just not cost effective. Story has a great looking Train IMO, but if thats the look i'm after, why not just buy a deluxe and customize that?

I traded my nightrod special for deluxe because i feel the luxe has a timeless design that never gets old. i luv all bikes from ducatis to bobbers, but there's something about owning a deluxe. my next bike will be a streetglide but will never sell my deluxe. good luck on your decision, i have no regrets on my trade. trust me i had a lot of money and sweet that i invested in my nightrod as well. pics are in my album. might be hard to let your night train go, but once you get your deluxe you won't regret.

ive got both the deluxe and train

i bought my deluxe first back in 06 did the whole apes thing and upswept fishtails....then i figured i prefer dragbars since everyone and their brother here in So Cal is runnin apes with a skinny 21" front tire and fishtails and i wanted something different.

My nitetrain i sank my money into and everytime i think i want to sell it i take it for a ride and realize why i bought and customized it in the first place.

I think you will regret selling the nitetrain just for a deluxe. I mean i understood when Phrogg sold his nitedeluxe and bought a bagger....
