Did not trim the padding. Not enough padding anywhere to trim. lol

Scraped 1/16"-1/8" of foam off in one area using a small piece of metal. Heck, a spoon would work. lol

I know you're not supposed to do this, but I was able to just push with my fingers around the edge and squish the styrofoam some, and where it was still a little tight I used a little plastic mallet to lower it a bit. Don't think I compromised the saftey value much, thinking at least I'll wear a helmet that fits

I was looking at the Biltwell but they didn't offer an decent color schemes in the DOT. Bell 500 is a killer helmet
+1 Got a Bell Custom 500 last week, very comfortable, and the bubblehead effect isn't too bad. I definitely like the way 3/4s look vs. half helmets. Muffles my Screamin Eagle IIs nicely, so I'm going to try using earbuds with it for tunes. I initially ordered a Novadot, but just can't wait until June. I'm new to cycles, so I'm wearing 100% of the time, and probably will continue to do so. Might have to pickup a Outlaw Carbon Fiber half helemt this summer, if the 3/4 gets me too hot on the humid days.

Now that you mentioned it, I also pushed around the rim with my fingers. Just where the padding bends over into the inside of the helmet. I think that is the glue for the padding. It pushed in fairly easy with just fingers. No big deal for sure.

Love that frikin helmet - fit, weight, looks and price!

Thats disappointing man, did the Large or XL even fit on your head?

My Large fits and I've decided to cope, I'm gonna use the suggestions these guys gave me to make a little room for a melon.

Went out a ride about 45min~ no discomfort so it seems like I got a keeper once I make some minor adjustments.

I took a rubber mallet and hit the inner padding and foam didn't seem to make much of a difference though.

Just got my Outlaw Ultra-low carbon today. Mine fit a little snug also. But then I put on my Voss novelty and it felt way to big, think that is why it wanted lift while going down the road. Tried on my HCI and it felt a little more comfortable, but damn it is huge compared to the Outlaw and I looked like a true bubble head in it. The Outlaw ultra is they way to go if you want the smallest available DOT . Any thing smaller than the Outlaw is going to be a novelty. The Outlaw is just what every one has been asking for.

Medium outer shell 8 1/4" wide x 10 1/4" long. I posted pics earlier in this thread comparing it to a THH dot and novelty. fwiw - A friend saw it and ordered one.

Thanks man,

Sorry though, I should have been more clear. Can you measure the inside? How thick is the shell and foam on the inside?

Front, side, and back.

I have a Non DOT I just broke and my other helmet is a AFX. I have a narrow head so it looks huge on me.

Mine is =
F= 1 1/4 inside
S = little over a inch inside
B = 1 1/2 inside

outer =
side to side = 9
front to back = little over 11 1/2

So the outlaw is smaller.
