Thanks everyone for the feedback & info. I know for some of you it seems like a waste to just change the exhaust but my stock exhaust is showing its age (11 years) & I do like the look of the 2 into 1 exhaust. Maybe I'll do a mild cam whenever I do the hyd. cam plate / cam bearing upgrade but it runs so sweet I just don't feel a need to do a bunch of mods.
Honestly bro', if you like the looks and sound go for it. And later if you decide to do further mods, you'll be ahead of the game. Gotta admit, 2-1 does sound kickass over stock.
Don't believe this stuff about a 2 into 1 only being worthwhile on larger motors. The old V&H Pro Pipe and Thunderhead were famous for waking up 80 inch Evos! You'll love the performance increase on a stocker.
I had a Bassani road rage and that was pretty quiet on a stock 96, would be even quieter on an 88. D&D is louder with the quiet baffle than the road rage.
Well today was the first time I have had it out, and I must say I love the sound and the performance is remarkable. It excellerates to 100 with ease and still has plenty left. The temp was still only 48 so you can just imagine what the wind chill at 100 is, so I will wait to do some runs when it warms up a bit more. But I can honestly say I am Happy with the system.

It's wonderful how these motors seem to love that cool crisp air!
I get a kick out of that every year on those first few outings.
Break traction real easily on that cold asphalt too.

Understood.
Go with your gut feelin'.
Don't let us push you into doing stuff you don't want to do.
Betcha a 6 pack you'll want more later though. Part of the addiction. LOL
Gotta say I love the sound and the extra torque I got out of my Thunderheader. I took off from a light hard and the guy on the bike behind me said the exhaust made his chest hurt.
With the new SE204 cams I'm getting 103 ftlbs of Torque out of an other wise stock motor. Can't beat a well tuned 2 into 1 exhaust.
Ran my fat cat for the first time today. Rides really nice. Definately a seat the pants improvement . Sound is good too. I'm running a canned map on my PCIII now, but will get a tune when I add cams.
