I don't get it either. I'm in Maine and my bike have never seen a heated garage. My '83 still looks and runs great and my '07 Fatboy is the same. As long as it's dry it's all good. The machinery doesn't know the difference as long as you prepped it for the winter sleep.
When you go in the door, have your front wheel as far away from the hinge side as possible...right before your handlebar hits the door frame, turn hard towards the hinge side so you can get one hand grip in...then turn hard the other way to get the other hand grip in...once the handle bars are in you got it made...been parking mine inside my home for 20 years.
Why can't you put it in the unheated garage? Us SoCal people don't understand?

Sweat. As the temp goes from bellow freezing to above, the bike starts to build condensation. This time of year is real bad with all the moister from the melting snow. I guess it might survive a week or two without much rust, but I know I've done some damage to one of my old jap bikes by letting it sleep in the cold all winter. I know that's being kinda ****, but it kills me to walk out and see condensation all over the bike. My garage isn't all that air tight either, so I just can't bring myself to leave it there. I really want to get to work on it though to empty out my winter mod shelf before the rest of the snow is gone (lost about two feet today)
