Default Apes with Windshield?

Would I be able to run a windshield on a 05 Heritage that has Wild1 16" Apes? I would like to have the option of putting on the shield for long rides. Thanks

Easily done as long as the bars are not pushed forward to far.

You won't have any problem. The windshield will still fit. I have Carlini 14" bars on my Fatboy and the windshield still fits no problem. The funny thing is and I don't really know why, but once you start riding the apes, you'll probably end of leaving the windshield behind more often than not.

I have Chubby Wild 1 Psycho Apes (18") on a 2005 Heritage and don't have a problem. You can move the bars nearly 2" forward of parallel with the forks and be okay with the windshield. I personally have the bars around 1/2" forward of parallel.

On a second bike I have Carlini 16" (really 17") Flyin Apes on a 2009 Deluxe and you can move the bars around 1" forward of parallel with the forks and be okay with the windshield. You have less room because the Flyin Apes bow in above the risers before bowing out at the handlebars.

I've got 14" Wild1 Chubbys, it works for me, but the bars had to be adjusted just a bit less forward than I would have preferred, but it is what it is at this point, gotta have it for long rides. I don't like the way it looks with the windshield so its been mostly off since I got the apes.

Yes, however, on long trips without the windshield @ highway speeds, it tires you out. Your upper body catches all that wind!

I have a 04 Fatboy and was able to put spacers in the windshield frame to adjust it out about 3/4 of an inch so now I can use it with my 16" apes and leave them pushed forward. I can't seem to get the pic's to post or I would show the set up.

I have 16's on 3" risers with a batwing and it fits great. I don't think it should be a problem.

Dont mean to thread jack but whats the rule of thumb (if there is one...) on what size apes to go with. I have an '05 Heritage and am about 5'11... rounded to 6'0" with shoes on (dont judge me).

Was thinking 14" or 16" apes but am not sure...
