Default Fatboy Lo Preload adjustment??

When adjusting the preload on your shocks do you have to have the bike on the ground or can you do them on a mc jack. Asking because the book says to have the bike on the jiffy stand and my 1 1/16 wrench won't fit under it.

After reading a lot of posts on the adjusting topic, I attempted adjusting my Xbones'. I let the bike down off the jack onto a 3" thick piece of wood and 3" worth of plywood under the jiffy stand. My jack got in the way, no way to get at the shocks. I crawled down there and to my surprise the lock nuts were bearly tighter than hand tight. I could get my 1-1/16" wrench on the high-side nut but not the low-side. I tried a pair of waterpump pliers and to my surprise I was able to turn it out. I used the spanner wrench to my 4-1/2" angle grinder to backout the shock 3 turns. I'm still waiting on my suicide clutch from Labriola, so I can't test it, but it seems a lot firmer.

LOL... take this guy's tools away from him until he can pass the "reading the instructions" part of working on bikes. Spoons don't make people fat.....

So from what I understand the jack wil be in the way of the shocks.
I guess I will try to raise the bike on some plywood and if I have to I can cut down a cheapo 1 1/16 wrench.

Thanks for the info guys. When I get home again in a few weeks I will try it with a cut down wrench. Hopefully I won't be stopped by an over abundance of thread locker, like I have read about.
