gas smell

hi all, I have a custom hardtail shovel with older 5 gallon fat bob tanks. while sitting in the garage the gas smell is unbelievable throughout the house. There are no leaks. what could this be? Could this be from the vented side cap? any ideas? thanks

id think its the caPS. are they screwd on tight? any coming out the overflow tube from the carb?

There are three places for gas to vent... the caps... the tank vent in the front of the tank... the petcock (you need to turn it off when parked this will keep the gas from flowing thru the carb overflow)

Don't be too sure there are no leaks. The original cap has a pretty good seal, unless something recently was changed. Gas is basically a gravity feed. Touch every fuel joint, line, bowl, carb, float bowl, everything, with your finger and a paper towel. Bet you find something. Ditto the petcock. A strong gas smell is usually a leak.
