This is such a tough subject. Rider, windscreen and seat height have a lot to do with effect of wind and buffeting.
I use the stock heritage screen and have no problems with glasses dancing, but I do run lowers. I didn't put them on for this but for some helmet buffeting. I have used a screen that was 4 inches lower and still did not have an issue with glasses but I do have good wrap-around sunglasses so that might be part of the deal.
I would get a strap for the glasses and put a little tension on them and see if that does the trick. As you say, you're still getting used to them.
Cut my shield twice, now it 3in shorter than stock...
can't really tell any diff in any of the heights making any diff on buffering...
Yeah, their is a large sweet spot in terms of shield height. Have been thinking about cutting mine down so as a test I would sit up several inches while riding to see what it would take to get a buffeting affect. Several inches would be good for sure. But, the shorter the less protection road debris.
I've got a 07 Heritage with the 20" stock, but have a Cee Baily 20" which is about 30% thicker than the stock Harley shield, but is better quality (IMHO).
I ride with a Corbin Dual Tour seat and I'm about 1/2" below the top and I don't notice that much wind, however I wear a Schuberth touring helmet with glasses. One thing I noticed that with the HD shield, I had more wind, but since switching to the Cee Baily shield, there was less wind. Just my two cents.
I also think your issue is coming from under the windshield, try putting your arm sideways across your chest when riding to see if it stops. I keep mine very low with no issues at all. I also hate looking through the windshield.
Just swapped my 21" shield out for a Memphis shades 17" replacement. I tried looking through the shield for 2500 miles after trading for this bike and couldn't handle it. The 17" comes between my nose and chin somewhere and it works well. I do notice more air but no "buffeting" I know some people like to look through but it just didn't work for me.
