Default Heritage Windshield Question

Sorry in advance for (another) windshield buffeting etc post;

So here's my problem. I now have to wear prescription sunglasses for driving & riding. (ah the joys of turning 50)

I've always liked the windshield lower 3" under or more. I have one I've chopped 4 1/2"
With that my sunglasses are just dancin on my nose. Irritating as ____.
I have my lower seat on there right now, so I tried my 3" lower one. The top edge is right in my line of sight. BUT it cuts way down on the turbulance. My glasses are for distance only, so this is a really bad combo. Hard to explain if you don't wear glasses (which I'm still gettin used to.) So when I put my taller Mustang seat on for longer rides it'll put the top edge of the w/shield lower, but I'll be back to square A with the wind problem. So, I've never ridden the Heritage with the tall stock height windshield. I've sat on them and you are looking thru it. I have ridden a Roadking with the tall one & it seemed ok, but I was getting used to the whole thing. Plus, as we've chewed over & over , you sit taller on a Roadking.
So, is that something you get used to? What combo are you guys running?

My other thought is, with gas going over $4 -gal I'll probl start commuting on it. (20 mi one way mostly freeway)
So maybe I'll run the taller shield and the chrome fangs and call it a day.

Kinda long. Sorry.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

I sometimes wear glasses because I am far sighted and have an issue with them "dancing on my nose". I have a Heritage with the stock windshield and look over the shield. I will use a sport strap the hold them tighter to my head to eliminate most of the movement but I deal with it. I don't like looking thru a shield and the proper way to size a windshield is to look over it. I have been considering buying prescription riding glasses/goggles but probably have some movement with them also. Hope this helps...

I'm running the stock windshield, and it's just under my line of sight. I wear goggles over glasses, no issues so far...

What brand/style goggles do you wear? You like them?

Your glasses 'dancing on your nose' is probably caused by buffeting coming from UNDER your windshield.

Install some chrome wind deflectors and that under/up draft will stop.

I look over the shield, its between chin and nose level. Do you ride with your knees pressed against the tank? Try that or like Mal says, wind deflectors. I can smoke a cigar while riding with those things.

+1 on the wind deflectors, I also installed a 15" Clearview Shield with reverse curve, the top is below my chin and my glasses never dance.

I run a stock windshield/seat and I look over the windshield by a few inches. I am 5'11". I wear prescription glasses as well. I have some prescription sports glasses from Walmart. They grip my head pretty well and stay put with or without the windshield. I have had them for 3 years and have held up well.

Try taking a ride without the wind deflectors. Once you're up to about 60 mph, put your arm across your chest as though you're pledging allegiance to the flag. Then you'll see how much wind comes up from under the shield and you'll note that your glasses quit dancing. Deflectors are your friend. If you don't like the Harley deflectors, you can try these.

I have two windshields: a 17" (measured from the top of the headlight cutout) for when I use the Mustang solo seat, and a 16 1/2" for when I use the slightly lower Corbin Dual Tour. Both enable me to look just over the top the the windshield. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam.

I think it depernds on the year of the Heritage for the size of the stock windshield. My is an 06 and i look thru itand i like it. I think they changed the height in 07 or 08 to a lower one. I rented and 09 a couple of years ago before i bought my bike and the top of the windshield on the newer ones are right at my line site, hated it.
