I have the true duals which, I'm assuming have the quiet baffles. can someone tell me how to make these things noisier?, is it just a question of removing these baffles and leaving them or do i need to replace them with a different baffle?.
Apologies if this seems like a stupid question, like I said I'm only assuming that they have these in, as they are a lot quieter than my last bike which, had a standard front system with slip-ons.
Now I'm wondering what kind of slip ons you had! My V&H true duals with quiet baffle and the smartpartz added are still way louder than the original headers with the SE slip ons ... How you can say they are not loud enough is beyond me ... anyway, to each his own.
If you got the quiet baffles they will be closed at the end. The regular baffles arey open. So if you got the quiet ones, just replace them with the regular ones. won't make that much of a difference anyway. Only about 2 - 4 decibel
You will need some kind of baffles in there as otherwise you loose too much low end torque.
I attached pics of how the V&H baffles look inside. First one is regular baffle, 2nd is the (not so) quiet one.
They are Vance and hines Duals , I will look at the ends of them later today to see if they look like the pics, they are quiet at tickover but they do get noisier at about 4,500 revs, but like I said before not as noisey as my other system, which were way louder at tickover, I'm new to the Harley scene and both bikes that I'm comparing had the systems on when I bought them,
Now my heads really wrecked!
I went out into the garage to compare my pipes wiith the pics posted earlier, and its gonna make me sound like some kind of noise freak, but mine dont look like any of thos pics, in fact it looks like they dont have any in at all, I can see about 12-14 inches down them and theres nothing.
Like I said earlier they are quite quiet at tickover but when revved they do sound a lot louder (quite good in fact), but the other system I had which was 2 on the same side with slipons sounded much louder at tickover and also nice at higher revs.
Is the dual system usually quieter?
