Angry Exhaust Gasket - No Brainer... Right?

Help....... I've picked out the old gasket, but the new one only goes in about half way. Am I doing something wrong????

It's a squish gasket. Put it in as far as you can, evenly all around, and put the exhaust in. Tighten up evenly and should be good to go.

+1 to what Wiseguy2day said ... take your time and tighten it up evenly. It will seal fine.

I was able to get mine to go in so it was flush with the outside edge of the exhaust port. I guess gaskets could be different widths?

Rub some dawn around the outside of it, make sure the tapered side is toward the motor, and make sure you are putting it in square...

Jims Exhaust Gasket Tool...

Yeah it's $40.00 but it saves your thumbs and when your buddy changes his exhaust you'll be an F'n hero.

The gasket flat side is towards the engine the tapered side accepts the header. But I could be wrong.

Yeah they might seem a little big try pushing them in gently and evenly with something blunt, I usually use a 1/4" nut driver.
