With the HD remap, isn't there also a Screamin Eagle module you need to purchase in order for them to do the remap?
No... But some dealers are different..my nearest dealer is 10 miles away and it's plug and flash..next nearest dealer is 40 miles away and they will not do a HD flash re-map..Wants you to by a tuner and dyno it.. like I'm gonna run my new HD up to redline several times.. To each his own..
Spoke to my dealer today and there is no warranty issue. The strange thing is that he said I do not need to remap the bike for the slip ons and ventilator...this is contrary to everything seen or read. Even the HD parts site says an ECM calibration is required for the ventilator.
I am looking at putting V&H Twin Slash slip ons on my 2011 Fat Boy Lo as well as a larger air cleaner, maybe one of the SE ones but not sure yet. V&H recommends a Fuelpak and Harley says I need an ECM calibration...is it both or are they both saying and doing the same thing.
By the way, I am new here if you have not guessed that yet.
Thanks in advance!
Look at a Dobeck performance EJK. Much more user friendly than a fuelpak
electronicjetkit.com. Take a look and see for yourself.

Thoughts?
Slip ons are fine by themselves..Larger intake (more air) is a different story.. It's my understanding the stock map can not pulse the fuel injectors enough to keep a safe A/F mxture. It will run lean and that's a bad thing.. I'd be safe than sorry..Head and/or piston work be mighty expensive
Thanks. The HD instructions for the ventilator are very specific about the calibration.
The only issue I have now is that I want to do the install myself like I usually do. The dealership is about 20 minutes away. If I were to install the new parts then drive the bike to the shop I am concerned that I will damage something. If they do the install it is three hours estimated at 60-70 bucks an hour... Might be ok but I am not sure.

If you do the slip ons and intake, a 20 mile ride should be no problem at all.. I will be doing the same myself..save a bundle on time they would charge to put them on for you..Plus you get the fun of doing the install yourself.. i did the install with a Fuelpac, but for warrenty issues, I'm gonna take the FP off when I hit 1000 miles and take it down and have them do a HD re-map..They have no problem with me installing the slip ons and Intake before i bring it down. They just don't want to see a tuner on it...But again you should have no problems.. It's when you ride a lot of miles with out the tune cause your running real lean..
