Default Fuelpak?

I am looking at putting V&H Twin Slash slip ons on my 2011 Fat Boy Lo as well as a larger air cleaner, maybe one of the SE ones but not sure yet. V&H recommends a Fuelpak and Harley says I need an ECM calibration...is it both or are they both saying and doing the same thing.

By the way, I am new here if you have not guessed that yet.

Thanks in advance!

It's an either/or situation. You only need 1 and you don't want to do the HD download. It's not worth the money whatsoever. If you're not planning on doing any engine upgrades more than the Stage 1, then the FuelPak is perfect to use with the V&H pipes and it's plug and play to install. I've been using it on both my bikes and my old Sportster and never had any issues at all. However, if you do think you might want to do more to your engine in the future, you may want to look into some other options that can handle the upgrades. Personally, I have no intentions of doing that and the FuelPak hasn't let me down yet. Good luck and welcome to the forums!

Thanks a lot for the information. I was thinking that was the deal but was not real sure. Now the only question is whether or not bypassing the cal will void my warranty, I will have to read up on that one.

By the way, Great looking Fat Boy Lo!

Dobeck TFI

For some reason this thing just interests me a ton. I think a buddy is getting one for his FB because he did the Cycle Shack baffle swap, and he might be getting some other slip-ons. Check it out on youtube.
It seems easy to install, and seems easy to set. And I think you can get them for around $180.00 new or less.

I did the HD Tuner (ECM) and I found it to be much better than the fuel pak. Depends on how you ride your bike and your future upgrade goals, but if you are going to invest in new pipes that are good quality, then you will appreciate the better performance of the HD Tumer. Imo.

I went with the feulpak to go with my V&H big radius pipes and a/c. It works great for me, but I also don't plan on doing any future engine mods, so I saved the extra money and did not buy the power commander.

I put V&H Big Shots Staggered on my '10 lo, with the Screamin' Eagle Air Cleaner and Fuelpak.

I'm pretty happy with the Fuelpak, although I was getting some popping from the pipes. V&H FAQ's says to decrease the value in mode 23 by 1 to eliminate/reduce the popping. A couple of lines later, they address a question as to why a bike would feel like its out of gas when slowing down. Their solution is to increase mode 23 to value 25, but you may get some popping noises. Guess I gotta pick one or the other.

That right there would make me not want the device as a tuner/fuel adder.

I was coming to this post to ask a question, and that was does the V&H FP disable the O2 sensors in the install?

Don't read up.. To many opinions..Check with the dealer who would be doing your warranty work..I have a 2011 and my dealer will not honor my warranty with the fuelpac, or any other re-map device. For the $20,000 I just spent, I took my FP off till the warrenty is up.. Did Stage 1 with my own choice/install of pipes/intake, let them re-map this one time ($150 BFD) and their fine with it..Just saying, it ain't worth voiding my warranty at this time.. 2 years from now will be a different story
