Default Air cleaner question

I know you have to get a tuner and get the bike tuned if you change out the air cleaner and exhaust. The shop wants to charge me an hour to put the air cleaner on. Not going to pay the shop 95 to put an air cleaner on. They area already going to tune it put the tuner on and dyno tune it. Can I ride 10 miles with the aftermarket air cleaner on it or just ride up to their shop and put it on in the parking lot?

Bike is already running a little lean with the exhaust on it. Don't want to hose my motor by doing something I shouldn't be doing. Not sure the 10 miles would be enough to jack it up.

They also have a pickup service where I can have them pick it up at my house that is also an option. Just have to be home when they want to pick it up.

You are not going to make the engine run lean with the stock AC on it even if you do have aftermarket exhaust. Yes, you can ride your bike the 10 miles (or a 1,000) and not harm your engine on the way to the mechanic. I would not suggest installing the AC in the parking lot.....do it at home. It's a simple job

Agreed, install air cleaner at home and ride over to the dealer for the tune. You will also get an actual before and after of how the bike runs.

+1, do it yourself and save $95. i dont know which intake you bought, but when I did the Arlen Ness Big Sucker it literally took less than 20 minutes. Mostly because AN has a good instructional video on their website, so i already knew what i was getting into..

Yup, as many have already said...save the bucks and do it yourself. No harm will be done in riding it for the miles you are talking about.

i read through this article, and honestly it sounds more like "Ok, you have a product installed already, now please, use ours as well!".. like the info at the top may be true, idk, i haven't researched it at all.. but after that first blerb, the whole thing is basically "buy buy buy..get an XiED and we'll fix what you 'effed'!", yet even attempting to do a search on this topic leads to 1,001 other forums and naturally everyone says "remap remap remap!".. and by "remap" i'm using the term generically to apply to having the MOCO actually change your ECM, or to using a SERT/Fuel Pak/PC/etc.. i'm not an expert at all.. im just saying my opinion on that page, that it really sounds like they just want to sell you something..
