Default Dash Panel

I took the dash panel off of my 05 FXST to replace the ignition switch and am having a hard time getting it tight against the tank. Is there a secret to this??? It shouldn't be rocket science, but for the life of me, I cant get the dash panel tight against the tank.

You didn't lose the rubber gasket that goes all around the dash panel did you?

It's a little tricky getting the one bolt that holds it on to stand up at the right angle.

If you replaced the switch did you get the wrong one, maybe?

Getting the wires that are at the front properly routed might have something to do with it.

That's all I can think of.

+1 on getting the wire loom to lay right.

Thanks for the replies. I think I got it. I don't know what I did, but it is much tighter than what it was when I did the OP.
