Default Bones dashboard problem

Putting a new set of bars on my bones and gonna run the wires inside the bars so i need to get the tank off...using my manual everything seem to be going great until i tried to get the dashboard off...it has an acorn nut on it but it just turns and turns but doesn't losen off....its not stripped cause i can feel the bolt turning...it just seems like whatever was holding the bolt has let go....any suggestions on how to get it off before i run a grinder on it and hopefully dont damage anything in the process...Thanks in advance for any help..

Push it up towards your bars bro. There is a bracket that holds the bolt in position if you push up on it it should come off bro.

Its a carriage bolt. Pulling up on it will lock it into the slot its in, preventing it from spinning. Just turn it a little and pull up on it. You should feel it lock into place.

It should lock into place if you pull up on it. I have to admit that mine locks into place with out the extra effort so something may be a off underneath your console. Keeps us informed.

Thanks for the advise guys.... i tried pulling up on the nut and turning but it just kept slipping out of place...so i pushed up on the dashboard towards the bars fairly hard and it come free....broke 2 pins off that look like they were just there to keep tension on the dashboard when it was tightened down...the metal clip that was holding the cariage bolt in place was bent alittle so it wouldnt grip the square part of the bolt..hopefully i can just replace the bolt and acorn nut and put it back on after the bars are done...if not i will be looking for a new after market dashboard cause i can't even imagine what harley wants for a replacement...lol

If it is the 2 pins near the bottom, they are only there to hold the leather in place. No big deal if they broke off. That piece of leather will stay in place without them too.

Just try to straighten the bent metal clip so it holds the bolt and you should be OK.
