Will it change the handling if I move the bars forward about a inch or two on my 11 SB? I guess you just loosen the 4 bolts move the bars and tighten? It's pretty stable now and I don't want any death wobble.
Thanks
Jim

Loosen them up, leave the allen wrench in one of the bolt heads with the bolt just tight enough to not pinch the bars, but tight enough that it will pinch bars with a slight turn. This way you can sit on the bike, adjust the bars forward or back and make sure they are centered in the trees and when they are where you want them, tighten the one bolt enough to secure the bars for final tightening.

It should not change how the bike handles but you might find it to be either more comfortable or less.

I have a buddy who is not mechanically inclined (not at all) and he had been riding the bike for about 6 months with the bars in the position the dealer put them. One day he made a comment on how the bike was just uncomfortable and was thinking of getting rid of it. We adjusted his handlebars (moved them back about an inch) and he is now a happy camper. Play around with different positions until you find one that fits your needs.

Oh, and makde sure you keep a hand on the bars when adjusting them. You don't want them swinging down and hitting the tank.

Cover the tank with towels or some kind of heavy padding before you get near the clamp with any tools.

Easy task, and it won't hurt the handling. I moved mine up quite a bit, and also put on the 2" riser extensions. I did, however, have to rotate the switch housings, so the blinkers, and mirrors, and all that good stuff was still straight. I just couldn't stand everything all out of whack...OCD, gotta love it!
