Default My bars look crooked..

If I am sitting on the seat and looking through the handlebars and lining them up with the cap bolts on the triple tree. They look slightly off. Could it be the poly riser bushings?

yeah it's pretty common for the bars to tweak a little in the riser bushings. just stand in front of it with the tire between your knees and pull the bars back straight. usually caused by straightening out the front wheel while the bike is still on the stand.

Get someone to help you out. Back the bolts out a little and straighten out the bars. Hold the bars where you want them and tightened them back up.

I had the same thing on my Bob.

I found that you could see how far out the bars were by the angle of the front mudguard. If you looked at it you could see it wasn't straight in line with the wheel so I just undid the yoke clamps and tweaked the bars until it all seemed to line up. This put the bars in the right position.

Otherwise just tweak the bars slightly and take it for a spin to check how straight they are.

Don't undo the yolk pinch bolts too much though or the forks might slip a bit DAMHIKIJK

Cheers,
Rob.

Loosen the riser bolts and tweak the bars until they are straight. Then retighten the riser bolts with a torque wrench. I had a reoccurring problem with the handle bars shifting alignment even when the riser bolts were tightened to maximum specified torque. I finally removed the oem rubber riser bushings and installed the polyurethane bushings. After tightening the bolts to the middle of the specified torque range the handle bars have remained stable a not drifted out of alignment.( BTW) A bike stand or a second set of hands is a big help when doing this.

Good luck with it.

Thanks Guys! I think I'll replace the standard bushings with some aftermaket polyurethane bushings.

Anyone have any suggestion on some good ones?
