hello,I am a new member and just bought an 08 superglide custom,it seems to me when i'm riding straight down the road, the handlebars and triple trees are down slightly on the right side.the bike drives straight as an arrow, this is just a littlt annoying.I tried loosening the riser bolts and twisting the bars to the right, but this did not help. any info is appreciated.
rockcrusher.
i know the 07 has a recall on the bars. mine was the same way when i picked it up. i also tried to straighten the bars at the tripple tree with no success. i recently changed to drag bars and everything is straight now. i think the bars themselves were bent. you might want to check the bars for straightness. if off the bike lay them flat on a table and check for wobble or eyeball them just to check. not the first time i have ran into bent bars right off the shelf.
I am with Duck here on this. If the forks are both sticking up evenly thru the tripple tree and it's riding true and straight I would be thinking bent bars.
Was the bike trailered anywhere or was it transfered from another dealer?? I have seen some people when they tie a bike down to the trailer or in a truck bed attach the front tie downs to the bars. That force can bend a set of handlebars real quick.
OK, I lost it man! The only thing I could visualize when I read this was That goofey Robot from lost in space waving and flailing it's freakin arms saying Warning! Warning! Warning will Robinson!
I'm gonna go with bent bars as well. I put on a set of apes that I got off of a buddy's bike. I put them on got everything wired up and stepped back to admire my handy work and the damn left side was at least 2 degrees bent inward. The point being, sometimes it's diffifcult to eyeball bent bars...
