As far as sun exposure, I run my iphone on a ram mount out in the sun all day all the time. No issues whatsoever. Those units are really nice, but not for me. Too pricey. Mine looks out of place but I really don't care as I like to have access to skip[to the next song without looking down at my tank.
I have never seen this before,I think its the way Ill go. It will work on the bike with ear buds and in my jeep and van to hold the phone when Im running it through the stereo aux.

I have one of these and did notice scratches in my clear coat after using it. I keep my phone in my tank bib pouch now. I ran the wire for my Boom audio speakers under the console and into the pouch.
