I use the pouch and it's everythng I need for my iPhone. With the Blue tooth function I can make/receive calls, listen to my iPod (included in the phone) and have a bike to bike intercom as well. When I stop, I just pick up the unit and stick it in my pocket.

As far as sun exposure, I run my iphone on a ram mount out in the sun all day all the time. No issues whatsoever. Those units are really nice, but not for me. Too pricey. Mine looks out of place but I really don't care as I like to have access to skip[to the next song without looking down at my tank.
