From this: http://watamix.com/harley/ on that page it says it is a historical reading, so I'm guessing it records the highest tach figure. Was there more information on that reading? If so I'm guessing it was the actual tach figure which represents the actual reading.

A couple of places i looked listed it as a current and as a historic code. I cleared it three times and it comes right back on. That is why i figured it was a current code. What happened was i added a tach wire to the #3 slot in the ecm plug. I hooked everything up and tested it and it worked fine. Then i bolted everything in and ran and tucked all the wires back in place. I started it back up and the tach would not read and the check engine light came on with that code.

I know that this is an old thread, but I got a 07 Low Rider, that I was hooking an
aftermarket tach to, and same thing happened..Same code..Cleared it, but keeps on coming back and check engine lite comes on. Did u ever figure out how to get it permanantly erased?

I ended up unhooking the tach from the ecm and hooking it back up through the coil wires. The code never went away. When I sold the bike I ended up putting in a new ecm because I didn't want to sell it with the check engine light on. Harley told me it was a false code and could not be cleared. I rode the bike for a year before I switched the ecm. It didn't cause any problems except it was annoying looking at the light all the time.
