Default Front axle slider bolt heads rounded, now what?!?

I am pretty sure I had the right sized allen wrench at 5mm. There was a tad bit of slop, but the 6mm was too big and I don't have a 5.5 in my set so I went with it. Now the heads are rounded off and I'm not sure what to do. If I had the wrong size, I screwed the pooch and now have to figure a way out of it. If I had the right size, the guy at the dealership cranked them down way past their torque value. In that case, the pooch screwed me and I've still gotta figure a way around it.

Go get 5.5 and use that. A lot of the bike allen bolts are 5.5.

if that doesn't work, get a torx bit and drive it into the head of the bolt for a tight fit. Use an impact wrench to remove the bolts.

What size did the service manual call for? I dont have one over here in the desert, but if there was slop, it was probably too small.

Try to find a 5.5 or take your 6 and a rubber mallet to try to seat it and spin them off. Maybe heat them up some first.

Didn't find the size in the service manual, but I did find it in the parts manual. It is part #4043 and its an M8 x 1.25 x 35 hex button head. I'm telling you though, the head on the ones that are in there are no bigger than 5.5mm. Even wallered out after messing with it, the 6mm does not fit. I'm beyond pissed right now. I had everything set and ready to install the monotunbes that arrived today and now I'm going to have to fit this.

Since its rounded off and you need to get new bolts just tig weld or get someone that has a tig welder to weld on a new bolt to the head of the one you rounded off. Then use that new welded on bolt to remove the old one. It works great! I may or may not have done this to my bike in the past. Hahahahaha
