I have a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic - I am going to change from my Vance & Hines Long Shots to Samson Tue Duals. What do I need to be aware of? Issues with running with/without baffles? I have the stage 1 kit/map, do I need to do anything regarding tuning? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
Without baffles it is a lot louder! You will get that nice fishtail deceleration sound. In my opinion, fishtails were made to be run without baffles. I have the best price around on Samson's. Pm or email me at DREW@DRVTWIN.COM for pricing.
Not to thread jack, but is there a big difference in sound between lengths? I noticed some bikes at the run this weekend had more of a raspy sound then mine on decel and thought it was probably because they were carb and not efi. I'm running 28.5 and going switch to cholos at some point, but wondered how that certain sound was acheived?
Had the 28.5"s and the 33"s now running 39"s the 39"s were the right choice best sound and the best looking.
Yeah I agree on the 39's bro...had my 28.5's on for about a week and knew they needed to be swapped out. I think everyones gone this route...maybe someone will learn from our mistakes and just buy the 39's the first go around....
Still wondering what is making the big difference in sound on decel and just overall sound. Mine seems to be more throating and not raspy, but Im not running baffles. Is it the length, carb vs efi, AC and a tune.... whos got some insight here?
Just bolting on the pipes does not require tuning and or mapping.Since you already have one you may get lucky and the map be close enough for the new pipes. You wont know for sure until you are riding with the new pipes. If you ride two up you may want to think about non-baffled.Might be a little tough on your better half.If you ride with your bags on all the time the 28.5 might be a little short for your taste.
I went with the 39's the first go around tks to all the guys here. Think the length and non baffle affects the sound. I noticed after I added my ac the sound became louder. Luv the way mine sound and look
