Default Progressive 422

My bike is currently lowered the cheap way; using the bolts. I have been having major lower back problems lately and riding hasn't helped. There are times that I can barely stand up after a ride. Would swapping the lowering bolts and stock suspension out for the Progressive 422s help? Is it really worth the $? I have read a bunch of posts about the 422s, but haven't found anyone who has switched from the lowering bolts and went to the 422s.

While Drew is right that air ride is the ultimate (and from what I've heard here, Shotgun Shock is the way to go), I myself just went from bolts to the 422's. While not air ride-like, they ARE an improvement over the bolts. They're working for me VERY well right now.

However, if you have the physiological issues that you mention, I might look into dropping the coin on the SS. I mean, what's the point of doing something as enjoyable as riding when it hurts when you're done?

My $.02.

And PS- I bought my Heartland EZ200 kit off Drew and Dr.VTwin- they are as good as advertised. If you decide to pull the trigger, order from them.

Drew, Can you PM me a quote for the 422s and the air ride so I can see the price difference?

I got my 422's from a fellow HDF-er for less than $200, but they retail for around $500... however, the SS (with the onboard switches) runs in the $1500 range.

I'm looking for a slightly softer ride and to lower my bike as well. The 422's sound like the way to go (without breaking my piggy bank).

I really liked my 422's and I wouldn't have changed to SS if I hadn't gotten a deal that I couldn't pass up on a used one.

Installation of the Shotguns is what stopped me.

First problem was finding someone, here in New England, who had done the install before. No one had. I found an Indy who said they were willing to give it a go $500.00. That's when I decided on the 422's for about 395.00 plus 85.00 to install.

I have installed both and didn't feel that one was any harder than the other. Both were pretty easy and I am no mechanic for sure. The hardest part is breaking the rear shock bolt loose on the stock ones to get them off.
