Carry an extra on your bike just in case as well. It is also good to know the procedure to start the bike without the fob present just in case your fob battery goes dead on the road somewhere. It is in the service manual. Glad to hear you got it working.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, so please redirect me if it is not.
I currently have an 08 Heritage with dealer installed security.
She is not turning over. Feels like it is electrical but not sure how to diagnose it.
Battery is good (new), lights works, security lights trigger turn signals correctly, headlight on, fuel injection sounds like in fires, but when i hit the start button, i get nothing. No cranking, no nothing.
Any ideas before it goes to a dealer to be worked on?
