I have a new fatboy lo and want to bring the bars back just a little bit more than what they are stock. Ive thought of drag bars, but im thinking risers might just do the trick. I like the look of beach bars but im not sure id be happy once i put them on. I dont want to change out cables at this point in time. Suggestions please!???
There's quite a few threads on this, most particularly I would point you towards the "Calling All FatBoy Lo Owners" thread, which is in the neighborhood of a billion pages long by now.
For my 2 cents, I felt the same way about the stock bars, I was leaning too far forward. I went with the black HD Street Slammers, they're a big higher, and a bit more pulled back than stock, but not drastically (like beach bars), and I find them rather comfortable. Most importantly, if you were to go with these, you would only have to change the front brake line, and not all the cables (not sure if you would have to do this with the beach bars).
HD makes 4" pullback risers that may help you. I think they sell them for $125. or so. I got a set for my FB and it did the trick for me. Only took an hour or so to install.
As Rider1200 said...you can do the 4" risers. They give you about a 1" pullback. But I know that wasn't enough for me. I ended up just biting the bullet and getting the Wild1Chubby bars that brought me back 14.5" and I LOVE them! My back was killing me after 100 miles. Now...no problems riding all day. You will need to change out all the cables though.

Same situation for me. I tried the 6" risers which got me in the same place as the wild1chubby bars but honestly I thought they looked really "clunky", plus I wanted to go black.
