Need a new front tyre on my Rocker (done 13000 kms) bald on right hand side !
So looking at different makes and thought how would it look with a 100x90x19 instead of the 90x90.
Anyone done this?
Fitment wise it looks like I can go an extra 5mm (1/4") on each side.
Don't know how it will effect handling.
Like the idea of a beefier looking tyre, have an Elite 3 250 on the rear.
What are your thoughts guys?
So I take it you ride in a strong crosswind from your right? LOL!!! I've seen others with 100/90's on the front. I would think it will handle a little better due to a slightly wider footprint. It's odd that 1 side of your tire wore out rather than the center. I got a little under 13,000 miles out of my front. It still had tread left but was getting choppy, stayed with the same size though.
Here's a Dunlop Elite 3 MM90-19 (I think it's the equivalent to a 100/90/19). It is a bit beefier than the stocker. I couldn't tell much difference in handling...
It doesn't surprise. My rocker pulls lightly to the left, so you tend to lean over to the right to compensate, and therefore the right side wears more?
Doing further reading and apparently you can't mix radials with bias even on a bike. The rear tyre I have is an Elite 3 radial and all the 100x90x19 Iv'e seen are bias.
We drive on the left here but I dont think it's the camber on the road more like my cornering harder to the right as the lean angle is something like 32 degrees to the right and 29 odd to the left also we have a very coarse chip on our roads.
Our earthquake damaged city is going to look empty for awhile yet, just been advised theres 900 buildings in the central city to still be demolished.
